The programme

The evening

Kick-start your evening with a 60-minute Half Six Fix concert. Introduced by the performers, with screens in the hall to bring you closer to the action.

Alexander Scriabin’s ‘The Poem of Ecstasy’ is, as the title suggests, an intense, mystical work which seeks to capture the composer’s notions of artistic, religious and sexual euphoria. A sort of sonic translation of his own poetry, Scriabin makes full use of the orchestra to huge emotional effect. The music flows without a break, conjuring images of divine realms and mystical plains.

LSO Chief Conductor Sir Antonio Pappano introduces and conducts a performance that is sure to captivate audiences exactly as Scriabin intended.

The work of the Chief Conductor with the LSO is generously supported by Alex & Elena Gerko, and members of the Chief Conductor’s Circle.
